  • Product Description
For day in, day out drilling and driving in wood, steel, or plastic, there might not be a better tool than Milwaukee's Magnum hole shooter. The aluminum/magnesium alloy on the gear case cuts down on the tool's weight, and the glass-reinforced nylon handle makes it a bit lighter, too--but let there be no doubts: when it comes to results, this is the same heavy-duty, ridiculously powerful, no-nonsense tool it's always been. The shooter is built with a stacked design--meaning the drill's interior parts stack on top of each other--which makes replacing parts (like a switch) much easier to do as the whole drill doesn't need to be taken apart. The handle is designed so you can hold it two ways--either pistol-grip or with the palm of your hand resting on the top back portion--making the drill an extension of your arm. As a result, you can really get behind it while still easily reaching the trigger with your fingers. And the finger slots add comfort. The shooter's top-quality chuck is a Jacobs (the best). It's a two-handed chuck, which, for the types of applications this drill is built for, is exactly what you want. The carbon brushes are also easy to access and change.

One of our favorite new features on this tool is the long and superflexible Quick-Lok cord. If the cord gets cut or damaged, you simply unplug the damaged cord and replace it with the cord from any other Quick-Lok Milwaukee tool. If you're looking for a serious, long-lasting drill, you can't go wrong here. Milwaukee's hole shooter is a very high-quality tool that will serve you for years and years and years. --Dori Anvinson

I love this drill, there not much else to say. The power is unbelievable, so be careful! Looked at several other brands, but this one was the best IMO for the money. It will last for the rest of my lifetime.

This is one of the best drills I have owned. The variable speed trigger operates smoothly and the drill overall gives the impression of longevity common to products that have historically carried the Milwaukee nameplate since the days when it was a private company and not owned by a multinational. In these tough economic times it is nice to be able to purchase a fine piece of American engineering that is actually manufactured here. This drill is superior to others manufactured with the Milwaukee name plate only, in terms of the stenght of the tool- its onl y 5 1/2 amps but strong enough to do most jobs, and control the movement with.

I have owned this same Model 0234 for at least 15 years, perhaps 20 years. It has been dropped from 12 foot high scaffolding to concrete floor underneath it, at least twice. It has been dropped into mud puddles too many times to remember, but at least 8 times. It has been dragged through the mud. It has screwed everything from 3.5 inch square drive screws to 1/2 inch bolts, thousands and thousands of times. The torque of this drill is incredible, and a few of the guys I have worked with would not use it because of it's power, which is very deceiving because of it small physical size. Believe me when I say that this drill is one tough, durable machine, which will take, what I consider, outright abuse...way beyond the call of duty.

Finally, after all of those years, my drill wouldn't go forward any more. I was extremely concerned that local stores would no longer stock it, and I was right. All they have is junk. Before this evening is gone, I will purchase another drill just like the one which has served me so well over the last 15-20 years.

If you buy this drill, you will be exceptionally pleased. It will easily outlast any other drill, by years if not decades. (When I bought mine, years ago, I threw away five other drills. I could have saved a lot of money if I just would have bought the Milwaukee to begin with.) The Milwaukee Magnum has a really small physical size, and the torque to drive screws clear through 1.5 inch thick dimensional lumber, with ease (not that you'd want to). However, you must give it plenty of respect, as far as respecting it's power. Especially be careful when using it with hole saws. It is variable speed, and reversible. It easily will do any kind of deck project, or building project, in it's entirety, and then do other projects, whether you use screws or lag bolts or header bolts or deck bolts/screws. It's also good at driving holes thru masonry.

My 3/8 Milwaukee is over 30 years old and still going strong. I have used it in situations where a larger drill would have been preferable, and since more of those types of situations were on the horizon, I bought this model. I was not disappointed. I am glad the side handle on this guy has the extra length; it greatly improves stability when drilling through tough material. I used this drill and a 3 1/4 inch Blue Boar CT cutter to cut through two thicknesses of 2x6 Southern Yellow Pine. The Blue Boar cut almost effortlessly, powered by the big boy from Milwaukee. Man, I wish I had sprung for this drill years ago! Absolutely smooth power from the electrics, with a very responsive trigger switch. This is the standard of the industry.

I bought the drill to suplement the use of my light duty Milwaukee cordless. The quality is about on par with the others in the same price range. The plastic isn't what it used to be when they were made in the US. I think mine is made in Mexico or China. I have some of the older US made Milwaukee tools and those are very smooth and durable. The new plastic feels a little thiner. I don't feel that I'm going to break it but it's still not as nice as they used to be.
The power is great. I just used a 12" x 1/2" bit to drill through 10" landscaping timbers without a problem. 5 amps are enough for me. The trigger on this model is better that the newer models. The Jacobs chuck is awesome. I would buy this drill again.
