Nice tool but the batteries are a scam
|
Comment:
This is a nice tool but the batteries after a year go bad, the charger blinks finds them "bad". I understand if the performance goes down or the charge doesn't last that I might need to buy a new battery, but the charger telling me that it's time to spend money is too much like the printer toner scam.
I think I will throw everything away and go back to dewalt.

A great general purpose drill

Comment:
I have had the drill for only a short time but I am very pleased with its performance. However, the feature I really enjoy is its size and weight. It is small, compact, but extremely powerful and it provides charge status which is essential for a Li-Ion battery. There is no comparison between this drill and the 12V Black and Decker I had perviously. This is a great drill for any home owner or hobbyist because of its size and weight. I recommend it without hesitation.

Huge improvement over the first M12 drill

Comment:
I bought the older 2401 driver when it first came out. Loved the size and long lasting batteries. But after two years, the gears blew up on me.
Since then, i bought this one and the difference is amazing.
Higher speed, more torque, a real chuck.
It is not made to replace an 18v cordless, so don't expect it to drill spade and forstner bits, or drive 3" deck screws into pressure treated lumber.
It is a handy size toolbox driver....nothing more...and it does that very well.

Comment:
I am a serious hobby woodworker. I own an M18 combo hammer drill as well as this model. I am surprised how few tasks I need my M18 for. The advantages of the M12 over the M18 are size and maneuverability. The M12 is well balanced, feels good in your hand, and has good trigger sensitivity. You have to love the metal chuck. I returned the Hitachi 12v to a big box store when I found it had a plastic chuck on an otherwise similar drill. The M18 combination hammerdrill will take care of anything but is heavy and gets fatiguing after extended use. You will be pleased with the M12. The battery life is good and it feels like quality all the way around. Honestly, if you owned the M12 sub-compact screwdriver, this drill and the impact driver, you will be set for about anything.
